The most common reason is a cross-device link which is no problem for
copy.

That would be stupid, indeed. However if you choose to select an
in-place run there will never be any copying/linking done.
Also, my approach for the linking of files was developed independently
of Duncan's in-place feature.

Yes, you would need the analogon to 'rm -r html/'.
Bottom line is: Is there any interest to incorporate either feature?
